A structured 5-step approach to minimise your forex costs on aviation training abroad.
Under RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS), Indian residents can remit up to USD 2,50,000 per financial year for permitted purposes including overseas education. This is approximately ₹2.1 Crore — more than sufficient for most aviation training programs.
If your education is funded by a loan from a financial institution, TCS is just 0.5% of the remittance amount. For self-funded education, amounts up to ₹7 lakh per year attract nil TCS, while amounts above ₹7 lakh attract 5% TCS. Remember — TCS is adjustable against your income tax, not an additional cost.

The savings come from three factors: (1) choosing a provider with lower markup over interbank rates, (2) timing your transfers strategically across payment milestones rather than converting all at once, and (3) selecting the right transfer method for each payment type. Our guidance covers all three.
You'll need your passport, admission/offer letter from the flight school, fee invoice, PAN card, and Form A2 (provided by your bank). If using an education loan, the loan sanction letter is also required. Having these ready before visiting the bank saves time and avoids delays.
